LOS ALIENS

As a family attempts a desert crossing, U.S. border patrol closes in - but both groups are in for a real close encounter.

When I heard about Jakelin Caal Maquin, a 7-yr-old Guatemalan girl who died in the custody of US Customs and Border Protection, I sat down and wrote. I imagined a brief but powerful encounter between “aliens” from over the border and an “Alien” from light years away.

KELLY AND CAL

Outcasts in life. Allies in suburbia.

Kelly, a punk-rocker turned suburban mom, is nostalgic for a life she can no longer have and uncertain of a future she doesn't yet fit in. Seventeen-year-old Cal is frustrated at his lack of control over the hand he's been dealt. When the two strike up an unlikely friendship, it's the perfect spark needed to thrust them both back to life.
